Installation of 4,221 pairs of interlocking steel sheet piles and 9,265 columns of deep soil mix enabled this high-risk flood channel to be improved to withstand a 100-year storm, protecting surrounding residents, businesses, and ecosystems. The project won an ASCE Outstanding Flood Management Project award.

Largest desalination plant in the western hemisphere producing 54 million gallons of drinking water daily delivered through a 10-mile long, 54-inch pipeline.

This project eliminates the need to import water from Northern California and the Colorado River by creating a locally sustainable water supply. It will replace 7 billion gallons (21,000 acre-feet) of imported water from with purified locally available recycled water. The project was awarded LEED Platinum Certification, the highest rating offered to environmentally sustainable buildings.

New 130-ft tall by 32-ft diameter outlet towers, a 160-ft deep by 48-ft diameter junction shaft, a 650-ft by 18-ft diameter outlet tunnel, access bridge, boat launching facilities and cofferdam.

45,000 cubic yards of structural concrete with 144-inch outlet pipe, 6 million yards of reservoir earthwork, asphalt lining, fencing and hydroseeding.

Seven miles of 121-inch diameter welded steel pipe with 144-inch and 42-inch butterfly valves. Constructed new and rebuilt existing roadways and miscellaneous improvements.

Processes primary effluent into potable water for groundwater replenishment and seawater intrusion through micro-filtration, reverse osmosis and ultra-violet treatment.
