HIGHWAY 101 LANDSLIDE MITIGATION
Removal of one million cubic yards of mud that closed the only north/south coastal route south of Eureka. Shea began clearing within 12 hours. The highway opened to one-way traffic in seven days instead of the three weeks originally anticipated.
BELLA VISTA
Excavation and straightening of existing Highway 299, widening of travel lanes and bridge, new bridge, and new asphalt concrete road section. Project completed one year ahead of schedule and on budget.
PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE
Complete reconstruction of two mainline Turnpike overhead bridges and approach roadways. Demolitions completed in a single 4-hour closure to limit impact to owner’s revenue stream.
SODA BAY
Despite work starting just 15 days before expiration of permits, Shea crews worked overtime for the county to complete work on the channel and open the road on Christmas Eve 2015.
HAYNES STREET BRIDGE
Removal and replacement of historic arch bridge over Stoney Creek for City of Johnstown. Architectural features such as cut stone form liners, arched steel girders and baluster parapets are incorporated into the construction to mimic the existing structure.
KINGSTON DAM
Three span 240-ft bridge replacement over Loyalhanna Stream. Bridge was constructed with equipment positioned above stream banks to limit environmental impacts on an important trout fishing stream.
AIRPORT ROAD
Replacement of bridge serving Jimmy Stewart Airport over SR 119. Bridge removed and constructed in two phases to maintain traffic.
STAN MUSIAL BRIDGE
Major rehab of a 2,400-ft truss and girder, 10-span bridge over the Monongahela River, CSX and NFS Railways and two roads. An aggressive 9-month schedule maintained traffic conditions.
